DESCRIPTION

The reclining figure is constructed through simplified, interlocking planes of color, defined by a continuous, controlled contour. Yellow, orange, and red volumes articulate the body not as anatomy, but as structure—flattened, deliberate, and spatially resolved across the surface. The striped ground introduces a counter-rhythm, anchoring the composition while reinforcing the tension between organic form and geometric order.

In this work, Ottinetti extends the discipline of graphic reduction into painting. The human figure is treated with restraint, translated into a system of balanced shapes and proportions. Sensuality is subordinated to clarity; expression emerges through composition rather than gesture, reflecting a consistent commitment to precision, economy, and visual control. The work exemplifies Ottinetti’s enduring pursuit of essential form.
